Foothill Unity Center Back-to-School Drive

The Caltech community is participating in a drive in support of the Foothill Unity Center to provide back-to-school supplies for children of qualified families.

Drop-off boxes are in Human Resources & Keith Spalding lobbies. Donations are accepted from June 15th thru July 22nd.

Suggested items are: New backpacks, 24-count crayons, single spiral notebooks, glue sticks, mechanical pencils, pencil sharpeners, 3-ring binders, filler paper (college & wide-ruled), calculators (regular & Scientific), 12' ruler, and blue and black ballpoint pens.

Please deposit your items in the drop-off boxes between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

OneDrive for Business & Office Online are now available

IMSS is pleased to announce that OneDrive for Business and Office Online are now available to campus. With these services, you can use virtually any device to store individual files in the cloud, share files with others, and read and edit Office documents. OneDrive for Business can also be used as a replacement for your IMSS home directory.


Features of OneDrive for Business include:

  • Free 1TB individual space to store and organize your documents and other files in the cloud
  • Share files and folders with others and give them permission to review or edit the content
  • Sync your files with PCs (Windows 7 & 8.x) and Macs
  • Review and edit Office documents on mobile devices and tablets using Office Mobile (free for Android, iOS and Windows Phone)
  • View and edit Office documents in a browser using Office Online (web-based versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote)
  • Use automatic document version control to view and restore previous versions of your Office documents

2015 Travel Fair

P-Card and Travel Services will hold its 9th Travel Fair on June 24, 2015 from 10:30am to 2:00pm located at the San Pasqual Walk. This year's theme is "Gateway to Europe." Come out and meet Caltech's preferred vendors. There will be delicious food for purchase and a drawing for great prizes (valid Caltech ID required to enter drawings). Come enjoy the fun! Box Online Storage

IMSS has launched Box at Caltech. Box is a secure content-sharing and collaboration cloud service that is accessible from anywhere and from any device with a network connection. Caltech's Enterprise Box license is free to use and features:
  • 50GB storage 
  • File uploads up to 5GB in size
  • Version history
  • Full text search and file access stats
  • Login with access.caltech credentials
  • FERPA and HIPAA protection

Red Cross Blood Drive

The Red Cross Blood Drive will  be held Monday, October 6 from 8:00am to 8:15pm and Tuesday, October 7 from 12:00pm to 6:15 p.m. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be parked by Winnett Quad.

Benefits of Donating:

  • You will help ensure blood is on the shelf when needed – most people don't think they'll ever need blood, but many do.

United Way Campaign

Caltech's 2014-15 United Way Campaign will run from October 10 through November 17.

Effective October 10, you can pledge online by going to and clicking on "United Way."

Our campaign will begin with our Annual Family Night Kickoff on Friday, October 10. We are very pleased to be able to offer this fun-filled evening for Caltech & JPL families. We will be serving a pasta dinner on Beckman Mall from 4:30pm to 5:45pm. We will be screening the movie "How to Train Your Dragon 2" in Beckman Auditorium at 6:00pm. The dinner does not require tickets. The movie requires wristbands for anyone over 2 years of age. Wristbands will be disributed on Beckman Mall during the dinner on a first-come, first-served basis.

On Wednesday, October 22, we will have a new event called "Contribution Café" where you can come to San Pasqual Walk and make your contribution in person by check or payrolll deduction from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Come to contribute and stay for ice cream!

The United Way 5K HomeWalk is on Saturday, November 15 in Exposition Park. You can run or walk or be a virtual walker. More information to follow...


Benefits Fair & Flu Shot Clinic

Caltech's Benefits Fair and Flu Shot Clinic will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, in Dabney Hall and the Garden of the Associates.

Meet representatives from our benefits carriers:

  • Vision Service Plan (VSP)
  • Safeguard
  • Delta Dental
  • MetLife
  • Aetna Student Health
  • Child Education Center (CEC).

Members from the Caltech Benefits Office will be there to answer questions regarding your Annual Enrollment.

And of course there will be giveaways and raffle prizes!


United Way Campaign

Each year Caltech sponsors a fundraising campaign for the United Way of Greater L.A. Our website will go live on October 10th. United Way's focus in 2014-15 is Housing, Education & Jobs. Their goal is to provide housing for 8.000 homeless; guide 7,500 students to graduate high school; and place 1,200 Veterans into jobs!

You can designate the agencies you would like to donate to and you can elect to have payroll deductions or to send a one-time check. Your donations can also help support three campus organizations: The Child Educational Center/JPL, the Children's Center at Caltech and the Caltech Y. We end the campaign with the HomeWalk 5K Event for walkers and runners on November 15th at Exposition Park, featuring Kobe Bryant as the Honorary Chair!
